EMULATE JESUS, RPCN CLERGYMAN TELLS LEADERS
The Moderator-General of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, the Reverend Oji Ude Oji has called on Nigerian leaders to emulate Jesus Christ by fulfilling their electoral promises to the electorate.
The Reverend Oji Ude Oji who stated this in his Easter message noted that Christ promised to rise three days after his death and that was fulfilled on the resurrection day, adding that Christianity could have been marred with the biggest fraud if Christ had not redeemed his promise as evidenced by the empty tomb.
He stressed that political leaders who made all manner of promises during the electoral campaigns should fulfil them now they have been elected into office.
According to the Minister of God, political leaders should also imbibe the spirit of forgiving and embracing their political opponents upon victory just as Jesus forgave the thieves on the cross as well as those that spat on him and called him names. Mature leadership consists of being focused and avoiding vendetta and revenge as such distract and derail leadership, Reverend Oji noted.
The Reverend Oji Ude Oji listed the significant lessons of the Easter to include Jesus bearing his cross, ignoring those that whipped, abused and spat on him, adding that Jesus could have derailed from his mission if he had momentarily stopped to retaliate those that wronged him.
The Reverend Oji Ude Oji commended President Muhammad Buhari for signing the New Minimum Wage Bill into law but cautioned that various governments should not allow workers to embark on strike before implementing it.
He also called on Governments at all levels to urgently arrest the spate of killings and wastage of human lives arising from armed robbery, armed banditry, insurgency, communal and boundary clashes.
