Despite raking the net sum of N88.7 billion in 2018 fiscal years, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s government failed to complete any landmark project including the minutest obligation of payment of salaries and pension gratuities and allowances.
According to the Federal Ministry of Finance, FAAC Allocation disbursement series of 2018 for FG and States, Abia State received the sum of N55.326 billion while the 17 LGAs got a combined sum of N33.440 billion.
The recently released document revealed that Aba metropolis (Aba North/South), Umuahia, (North/South), Isialangwa (North/South) and Ukwa (East/West) topped the list of highest earners.
Aba, the commercial hub of the state with two Local Council Areas, (North/South) top the chart with a combined allocation of N4.603 billion. Umuahia, the state’s capital city with two Local Council Areas, (North/South) is second on the chart with a combined net sum of N4.318 billion.
Third on the list is Isiala Ngwa with two Local Councils (North/South) that received a combined net sum of N3.785 billion, followed by Ukwa, (East/West) in the fourth position with a combined net sum of N3.108 billion.
Bende and Isukwuato, two LGAs threatening by devastating erosion also received the sum of N2.053 billion and N1.809 billion respectively. Aside from several months’ salary arrears owed the Local Government workers, these LGAs were left at the mercy of erosion that has in the past months swept away buildings, schools, villages and major roads.

If you add that to Billions of Internally Generated Revenue and bank borrowings, you have close to 120 Billion Naira looted by Ikpeazu and his PDP gang in 2018 alone. Multiply that by 4 years, plus 50 Billion Naira gotten from Paris Refund and Bailout fund and you have over 500 Billion Naira that has been squandered from Abia in the 4 years.
