Edda Council Boss Settles Idima crisis
Yesterday, The Executive chairman of Edda LGA, visited Amaeta and Ogiri villages in Idima Community for a peace talk over the land dispute between the two villages.
In the meeting were their traditional chiefs, The member representing Edda East State Assembly Hon Steven Igwe Oji- Mansteve,The honorable commissioner, The SSA to the Governor on Internal Security South, Hon Okenwa uka, The SSA to the Governor on Youth Mobilization South, Hon Bar Frank A. Dike and security heads and other dignitaries from Eddaland.
The Chairman gave fair hearing to both parties and other speakers who frowned at the act of both parties saying that as brothers they were not supposed to be at war with each other.
In his speech, he thanked the security arms for their swift intervention in making sure that no life was lost during the crisis.
Furthermore, He passed a decree that the land from henceforth should be left uncultivated by both parties till further notice.
In other to foster peace, The two communities signed a memorandum of understanding to obey the decision from the meeting, and failure from any of the two parties to heed to this decision, will land that party in custody of the law enforcement authorities where the law will take its full course.
The end point of the meeting was songs of togetherness, prayers of peace and handshakes as a symbol of peace and unity.
Also The Chairman visited the casualties in the hospital where they were already receiving treatment. In his usual way of doing things,he requested for all their hospital bills to be sent to him for immediate payment. He told the hospital management to ensure that they were given proper medications.
